Spiral Drive / KALK¥L
CONCERT
SPIRAL DRIVE first gained Europe-wide attention with their debut album Unity (2019). Since then, the passion project of German-Austrian multi-instrumentalist, producer, and singer Raphaël Neikes has evolved into one of the most exciting and promising formations in the Neo-Psychedelic scene. Their second album, Visions in Bloom (2022), bolstered this reputation, propelled by the single "Space Train" which has been streamed millions of times. The long-player blends Psychedelic Rock, Alternative, Psych-Pop, Grunge, and Indie into a dazzling cohesive work – earning the band comparisons to artists like Tame Impala, King Gizzard, Queens of the Stone Age, MGMT, and Pink Floyd, without confining itself to a single genre. Together with collaborators like Ben McLeod (All Them Witches) and Lord Fascinator (Children Collide), Neikes unleashed creative impulses that resonated far beyond Central Europe, attracting a steadily growing fanbase in the UK, USA, and Australia. Another milestone in 2024 was their cover of "Tomorrow Never Knows" (The Beatles), which was released with original artwork by Klaus Voormann (The Beatles – Revolver) and garnered attention even outside the psych scene.
While current releases continue to attract international attention, Neikes is already working on two new studio albums: REISE is a Krautrock excursion that emerged from an intensive week-long studio session with Lord Fascinator. The Australian psych-pop artist is known for his work with Children Collide as well as his eccentric solo performances. Lord Fascinator and Neikes now share a close creative partnership, driven by their shared passion for genre-bending sound experiments and their narrative sonic universe. REISE is scheduled for release in April 2026. Simultaneously, Neikes is also working intensely on a successor to "Visions in Bloom," with its release targeted for H2 2026. Following extensive tours throughout Europe and South Africa, as well as a celebrated Rockpalast live set, SPIRAL DRIVE embarked on their "Green Vanilla" headline tour in the first half of 2025, playing 23 shows across 7 countries, including their first-ever visit to the United Kingdom. Their June performance at the New Cross Inn in London marked their long-awaited UK debut, fulfilling the hopes of their steadily growing British fanbase.
With their UK debut, SPIRAL DRIVE underscore their international ambitions. A milestone that not only confirms the band's influence but also directs their gaze far beyond Europe towards North America and Australia. With new music on the horizon and a reputation for immersive, genre-bending live shows, the band's upcoming chapter promises to be even bolder, more vibrant, and above all, louder.
*Support: KALK¥L
If everything looks bright even when it's raining, you've probably stumbled upon KALK¥L. The band from Mannheim creates Psychedelic-Indie-Soul with warm analog sound, fuzzy guitars, multi-part vocals, and a penchant for melancholy that always considers hope. KALK¥L was founded in 2020 by Tom Woschitz and Phil Sodemann. Both work on a songwriting basis – focusing on emotional clarity, texture, and atmosphere. Production is a duo effort, in close collaboration with Michael Nowatzky (who has worked with The Kii, among others). The songs are clearly structured and memorable – yet there remains room for breaks, detours, and intuition. Live, the project expands with a full band into an open, vibrating sonic entity. At selected shows, Tom and Phil also present KALK¥L in its original form – with 12-string acoustic guitar, melodica, and abundant overflowing energy. In 2022, their first EP Lazy Sunday Tapes was released – written, recorded, and produced in their living room. The lo-fi-infused tracks laid the groundwork for their current sound: soulful, raw, direct. The release was featured as "New & Notable" by Bandcamp and received airplay on FluxFM and Deutschlandfunk Nova. In 2024, the collaborative EP Only Way To Catch Me with French artist Laventure spent six weeks in the FM4 charts. This was followed by placements in Spotify Fresh Finds GSA and Apple Music Editorials, as well as live performances, including on RadioEins. After international shows in 2023/24 – including in France, Belgium, and Austria – KALK¥L will be supporting Steaming Satellites and celebrating a show highlight at the Maifeld Derby in 2025, among other appearances. The new EP Outrunning Raindrops will be released from November 2025 – produced by Michael Nowatzky, mastered by Zino Mikorey (Parcels, Alice Phoebe Lou), featuring the psych-rock band Spiral Drive.
