Yes, you can hop over borders with the Deutschlandticket! The trick is knowing the “border tariff points” and the exact local lines that continue past Germany. We’ve listed the usable cross-border routes below so you can plan weekend getaways without guessing.

How Travel Abroad With The Deutschlandticket
Border tariff points 101: your D-Ticket (now €63/month in 2026) is valid on local/regional services to specific joint/border stations outside Germany. Past that point, the neighbouring country’s tariff applies. In some cases (e.g., Luxembourg’s free public transport) you simply switch to the local network without paying extra.
Remember: the D-Ticket works only on local/regional transport (U-/S-Bahn, tram, bus, RB/RE). It’s not valid on ICE/IC/EC or FlixTrain/FlixBus. Always choose regional (RB/RE) options in your app.
